Author’s Rating:
I took a chance and bought these over Bics DV 62-clrs. The DV 62-clrs are very big 10″ deep with out the lacquer finish. The VK-6LCR are a very nice looking speaker and are 6″ deep with a black lacquer finish. There are obviously other differences in the speakers but if you are interested in Wall Mounting them the 4″ difference is quite a lot. I think from purely a sound quality point of view the DV62s are hard to beat, however I haven’t listen to both to confirm, but the DV62s have a lot of reviews to support them, where as these VK-6s don’t. I got three VK-6LCRs for the front 3 of my 5.1 surround sound system, replacing the Energy Takes that were there before.

I was really concerned as there was virtually nothing on the internet on either the forums, professional reviews, or consumer reviews to help with the decision. I took a gambel and bought these basically because I wanted a black lacquer finish and the technical information given on Bics website. With the Energy Take center channel I felt that voices were hard to hear and music was a little tinny. I never liked stereo sound with the Energy speakers, now I’m finding I prefer stereo over the moc 5.1 sound coming from my Denon receiver when listening to music. I just finished watching the new Star Trek movie, in TrueHD, and wow these speakers deliver compared to the Energy Takes. To top it off I really am happy with the way they look on my wall in the living room.

This being the first review, I hope this may help someone else that is considering purchasing these. Shop around prices vary considerably from one day to the next. Another big reason I purchased these over the DV 62-clrs was the price point Amazon had these at when I purchased them, shipped they were only very close in price at the time. Since than prices have risen quite substantially. There are however other vendors which sell them for less, if you look around. I posted a couple pictures as well. enjoy
