Fantastic Sound at a Reasonable Price - No Need to Spend Big $$ to Get Great Sound

This speaker set really sounds great. I am an audiophile who would usually go the extra $$ for the best sounding unit (i.e. the Bose Sound Docks or something comparable) but you can only spend so much on peripherals. FYI, I checked out the various dock options on Amazon.com. I've heard the JBL On-Stage at a friend's house and liked it, but I was concerned about all the feedback in the reviews about that unit's volume control issues. Speaker sound is all about personal preference and hearing those speakers in the environment where they will be played. I went with the Klipsch for 3 reasons - the company is known for making high-end tower speakers, the unit includes an "S" video jack for showing videos and podcasts on my TV and the reviews here and elsewhere were positive. I normally wouldn't buy speakers without hearing them first, but I relied on the reviews and the company's reputation - and besides, the pricing was good and I could always return the speakers if they didn't sound great in my house.
I received the unit and unpacked it in my bedroom, where it will ultimately be used. It was super-simple to setup - indeed the instruction manual is only 3-4 pages of large type. I put my iPod on the unit and fired it up. The sound that came forth was crisp, clean and impressive. Frankly, not to knock Bose, but the sound was about as good as the sound from my Bose Wave Radio which cost more than 3X what the Klipsch cost. The sound is excellent with lusty base, crisp treble and superb midrange. I have played a variety of music and have been continually impressed with the sound reproduction. Pop, Hip Hop, Classical, Jazz - you name it, this Klipsch really delivers. And it fills my moderate-sized bedroom with music without any trace or distortion and it sounds very natural. I haven't used the S-Video hook up to view videos yet, but I'm sure it will work well also. In my opinion, this is the best unit at the $150 price point - it will not disappoint!
Here are my overall pros and cons for the Klipsch:
Pros:
-> Attractive form factor and reasonably small foot print
-> Easy to set up
-> Sound quality is excellent - at all ends of the musical spectrum
-> Price is very reasonable
-> Fills the room with clear, crisp music at any volume level - sounds great on low or played loud
-> Has video connection for movies and podcasts - many other speaker sets don't have this feature
Cons:
-> The volume buttons on the unit itself don't have a smooth positive feel - they are stiff in their operation
-> A screen like that of the Altec Lansing would be nice so that you could see the volume level and other key operating statistics of the unit
Bottom Line: If you appreciate good sound reproduction, this is the unit for you!!! Take it home and try it - you can return it if you don't like the sound. But trust me, you'll love it!!!! |
Great Sound For The Money

| Compared to Bose SoundDock, Polk, Denon, and anything else I could get my hands on. Spent 2.5 hours in a store doing side by sides. I am obsessive about trying to compare apples and apples. Klipsch won when compared to items in the same price range every time. Hands down. Also hung very very close with those way more expensive (besting quite a few like the Denon). Bose sounds *slightly* better, but not by much and not for more than $100 more. We own a Sonos S5 as well (which also sounds great) but it's lots more expensive and the Klipsch holds its own against that very well too. Basically, this is the best item of it's kind out there for the money. The plastic could be a little less flimsy, but it's not ultra fragile either. Great balance of sound quality and price. Worth every penny. |
Great for your iPhone or iPod Touch

My wife and I researched the market for a portable, high-quality speaker system for our iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch.
We ended up buying the Klipsch iGrove SXT, and are very pleased with this purchase. The sound quality is great and
it only has three buttons: Volume Up, Volume Down and Power. For any and all other features, you would use your
iPhone or iPod apps, which we do. This speaker system has replaced our alarm clock, which we did not anticipate when we
bought it. We frequently unplug it and use it in different rooms, even on our outside deck. We love this portability, as
you can put it anywhere where you have access to a power outlet. Given its small footprint, you can put it on a night stand.
This product is a great value for the money, and we have not experienced any drawbacks in the months we have used it. |
Great sounding iPod docking station for the $'s

| I had been looking around for a good docking station but had been very disappointed with the quality of sound I was hearing from these units costing between $100 to $200. I recently got a Bose Wave Radio II and a Sony HTiB which both have iPod docking ability so my quest for the iPod specific dock station ended. Well, for X-mas we decided to get my daughter something to plug her iPod classic into so again the quest to find something that sounded decent for the price. I came across this unit and heard it played. Wow very impressed, especially for the size! I can't imagine someone complaining about the lack of bass on this unit, are you kidding! The simple facts on this are that it plays iPod music great! It's very comparable to my Bose in sound reproduction. That being said though, it doesn't have a lot in the features department. You won't be able to carry it around, no battery option. It also doesn't have radio or ability to adjust your sound which isn't that bad since you can simply adjust your iPods sound setting. All in all if you looking for a great sounding iPod player, look no further, this is it. If you want a lot of other features, you may need to keep looking. |
No need to look further...!!

| We shopped for our ipod/iphone speakers very carefully. Tested brands at stores, read reviews on various websites, and a week prior to purchasing, were fortunate enough to have use of the Bose Wave System. I have the Altec Lansing In Motion speaker system from a few years back. Terrible. Really awful connection. I will say the Bose sounded excellent, but the price is prohibitive. Bose does a lot of advertising, has stores, info ads, etc..I know thats part of the cost. Klipsch, on the other hand, makes speakers, thats it. The sound of these speakers is on par with the Bose systems. Its a wonderful speaker system for the price. Works perfectly with all makes and models of ipods and iphone, no feedback at all. When running the iphone, you can use any number of internet and satellite radio apps available in the app store. All in all its an excellent product for the price. I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for very good sound quality, but not looking to spend $200+ and I would purchase Klipsch products again for sure! |
Make sure you purchase the new iGroove SXT and not the old model

As everyone has noted already, this is a great price/value iPhone/iPod Touch speaker system. I've had it for a week now and I'm putting it through its trials. I can crank this system up with no distortion whatsoever. Keep in mind this is for use in my 20' x 20' kitchen. Nice and clean, with acceptable levels of lows/bass.
Important to note: Make sure you purchase the latest version of the iGroove SXT, model #1009098. Released in 2009.
This model WILL be compatible with all iPhones (3G and 3G-S) and iPods. Most of the CAN recharge but I know for sure the 1st generation iPods will not. I have a 1st generation iPod and it plays flawlessly but it will not charge in the SXT. Not a problem for me as I also have a "Late 2009" generation (unofficially called 3rd generation) iPod Touch 64 GB which plays and charges on this latest SXT. And it can play my movies and videos with the speaker system, although the viewing will appear sideways. Can be found/purchased at [...] and BestBuy for $149 USD.
If you an iGroove SXT model #1007267, released in 2007, this is the old version. It MAY NOT play/charge like the newer version listed above. I think that is why some of the reviewers are having issues with playback and charging on their iGroove SXT. Found at TigerDirect for $147 USD.

| I just got this dock system yesterday and am very impressed by how small it is but very good sound. The only problem i really see is that when the iphone is docked it does have a little wiggle. hopefully this wont be a problem later on. |

While many iPod speakers fall into the dime-a-dozen category, the iGroove SXT iPod Speaker System, with iPhone certification, definitely does not. In fact, this sleek, pint-sized powerhouse fits perfectly into any room, while making your playlists larger than life. Sleek style and performance prowess. Click to enlarge. | Re-tuned bass ports remove "port noise." | Shielded from cell phone interference to prevent unwanted noise. | The original iGroove SXT, introduced in 2007, turned a lot of heads with its sleek style and performance prowess. This latest version takes that success to a whole new level, without costing a penny more. It sounds better than ever and accommodates all of the new iPod and iPhone models, even the iPhone 3G S. Technology The iGroove SXT remains a true stereo sound system that employs dual long-throw 2.5-inch woofers in a ported enclosure and dual 3/4-inch horn-loaded tweeters. Klipsch is the only company in the iPod speaker category to utilize horn technology, a design that delivers lifelike sound as well as produces more output using less energy. The result? Huge stereo sound from a pint-sized package. And unlike before, the iGroove SXT is now bi-amplified, which means each driver is individually amplified, a feature that virtually eliminates distortion and significantly improves sonic performance. Klipsch also re-tuned the bass ports on the sides of the system to remove any "port noise." In addition, the amplifier is shielded from cell phone interference, so you can forget about unwanted noise when you've got an iPhone docked. iPod/iPhone Compatibility The iGroove SXT charges any iPod with a 30-pin connector, while the shuffle and other digital devices connect via a rear auxiliary input. Klipsch added a 1000mA rapid charge circuit to the system, so you can quickly recharge your iPod, iPod touch or iPhone. For video-enabled iPods and iPhones, an S-video output lets you watch videos on external monitors. Finally, need an alarm clock? Combine your iPod's alarm clock feature with the iGroove SXT.
