The Solo-Baric L5 Subwoofer gets a makeover for 2005, but the shiny new exterior also conceals a truckload of new technology. When you hear the L5, you’ll know exactly why KICKER owns the patents on square subwoofer design. Taking several cues from its master L7, the latest Solo-Baric L5 is no stepchild. It inherits the cutting-edge SoloKon, the one-piece, ultra-rigid cone that utilizes rear bracing for maximum strength as the volume climbs. The punishing 15-inch L5 even requires dual bracing to control its massive excursion capabilities.Digging deeper, the new L5 contains a T-shaped top plate that widens the motor’s magnetic field, significantly increasing upper bass response. Its wide poly/cotton spider handles high excursions flawlessly, thanks to the increased diameter and a unique shape. The sub’s improved voice coil now rates to 220 incinerating degrees Celsius, which keeps your bass raging longer than ever. And with a new stamped-steel basket, rugged magnet boot, and super-grip front gasket, the Solo-Baric L5 gives any woofer in the neighborhood a run for its money.
