The Chameleon Micro Spot VC, originally designed for courtroom applications, is ideal for fixed installation applications such as paging systems, boardrooms, etc. Standard features of the Chameleon Micro Spot include a universal wall/ceiling bracket and a 70 volt transformer with six selectable taps of 0.9W, 1.8W, 3.7W, 7.5W, 15W, 30W, plus a 16 ohm position. The 16 ohm position is a transformer bypass that allows the user to step around the transformer and use the Chameleon Micro Spot as a 100 watt speaker. The bracket allows the Chameleon Micro Spot to be mounted to any wall, ceiling, table, or other surface. The Chameleon Micro Spot features the proprietary Galaxy Audio NEOLITE neodymium 5″ driver with a ferrofluid cooled voice coil that reduces both power compression and distortion. These small speakers carry a solid clear sound even at high volume. This is rare for a speaker of this size and price. I used these speakers as part of a Dolby 7.1 sound system. While intended really for satellite or extension needs where you need a very small or mini speaker, I have found they work exceedingly well as a center channel speaker. I hook up the pair as one speaker for the center and this helps to safely spread the load when under pressure at high volume. Even hooking up the pair in one location only uses 10 inches x 3 inches. This allows them to be very unobtrusive and gives many options of placement even in tight places.
An easy test for a center channel speaker is to turn CNN on and crank up the volume. With this test both the talking heads and environmental background sounds come out clear. I recommend these as a low cost but high performing solution to all around tight space speaker needs.
